Since a few years companies and schools of the Brussels Capital Region have been co-thinking - together with Brussels Mobility - about their mobility while taking action in order to improve mobility and traffic safety for everyone by means of their Mobility Plan.
In order to help them set up an sensitization campaign for all their staff, students or teachers, Brussel Mobility is organizing the 9th edition of the action "To school/work without a car", between 16 and 23 September. The purpose of this action is crystal clear: to make the drivers of 15 selected companies and 80 Brussels schools familiar with another type of mobility and guide them towards more sustainable means of transport.
So, our partners STIB, SNCB, De Lijn, Tec and Villo! will donate free transport passes to vzw Cesi, Baloise Insurance, Ziekenhuis VALIDA, vzw Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc, het Gemeentehuis van Evere, Decathlon Belgium, ING, Instituut Saint-André d'Ixelles, Mediafin, Nestlé/Nespresso, Partenamut, scs Boehringer Ingelheim Comm.v, Sodexo en Stefanini. As well as offering discounts and services with Pro Velo, CyCLO, les Ateliers de la rue Voot, Bike to Work and Taxistop. A hundred other participating companies also receive communication material as to organise their Mobility Week. In more than 80 schools, pupils, parents and teachers are encouraged to put aside the car during this particular week and go to school on foot, by bike or using public transport. The start of the school year indeed is the perfect moment to pick up good habits!
ASSESSMENT OF PREVIOUS EDITIONS
Since 2008, our companies have launched numerous initiatives in order to encourage their staff to try other means of transport instead of merely their cars by closing their parking area, handing out gift vouchers, electric bikes testing, sensitization campaigns towards carpooling, information stands on sustainable mobility, measuring the tire pressure ...
Within the scope of this action, ING and Elia have been awarded with the prize "To work without car" in reward of their dynamism during last years campaign!
